show !important when displaying CSS information in Web Developer : Feature Requests

Yesterday I've spent a day tracking down a padding issue in a CMS layout with lots of stylesheets. It turned out that an CSS "!important" statement blocked all subsequent alterings of styles for a certain class. When displaying style information with [Ctrl]+[Shift]+[A] all styles defined for an element are displayed, but the "!important" statements present in the original stylesheet are omitted. It would be most helpful if this information would be displayed, too.Regards, fberger

"Disable Proxy" - behaviour changed in Web Developer : Bugs

This is a mere issue at our site as corporate policies does not allow to change the system-proxy-settings.Working outside of the company I normally used the disable proxy setting at this is very handy. Since it uses the system-settings I have to manually disable the proxy through the firefox-settings.I assume that there is a good reason for the change to the system-settings instead of no proxy - so I propose to just add a second option 'Use system proxy settings' (which uses the actual behaviour) and switch back 'disable proxies' to how it was before (and what the name suggests).RegardsMichael

I have been having the same problem with Web Developer + NoScript + Firefox 3.5.11 (what we have to use here). When I de-activate NoScript, it works fine.Going to the NoScript site, they indicate that this is an issue that needs to be fixed with Web Developer :-( NoScript does not seem to have a way to make an exception for the Web Developer plug-in.Anyone else have some ideas?
Extreme slowness in Web Developer : Bugs

That issue happens because the extension shows JavaScript and CSS errors in the toolbar so a site with a lot of errors can force the extension to do a lot of processing which slows the browser down. However, this should only happen on select sites which have a lot of bugs which doesn't sound like what you are seeing.I am not seeing this problem and haven't heard of this from anyone else. Since this has only recently started happening to you and the extension hasn't been updated during that time there are two possibilities:1. Something in the browser changed that affects the performance of the extension.2. Something in your profile is conflicting with the extension.Since I am not seeing any issues number 1 seems unlikely, but I'll do some more testing on Windows in case it is Windows specific - unfortunately I don't have Windows Server 2008 to test on though. My only suggestion in the meantime would be to try creating a new profile and seeing if the extension still has this problem when it is the only extension installed:http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+ … le_Manager

Could you please explain the known issue about browser slowness:http://chrispederick.com/work/web-devel … /#item-681We are seeing such extreme slowness that we are beginning to uninstall Web Developer (our favorite add-on!!!). Typical symptoms:1. Type something2. Nothing appears3. Wait 3 seconds4. Text appearsand1. Click mouse in a text box2. Cursor does not appear3. Wait 3 seconds4. Cursor appearsRestarting Firefox fixes the problem temporarily, then it comes back. Disabling Web Developer makes the problem go away. How do we know if this is the known issue or not? Thanks.

Hello there,it seems the behaviour of "Disable Proxy"" changed over time. This function now switches Mozilla to using the option "Use system proxy settings" instead of to "No proxy". This could mean that it's actually using a proxy when it's not intended to. For windows users usually this is the case when you have configured a proxy in Internet Explorer. If you want it like this, the option in Web Developer should be renamed to prevent developers tearing their hair out :-).I personally would prefer it configurable in a way that allows you to prevent any proxy use by Mozilla on the one hand and on the other - for the users in corporate networks for example - let it use a system default proxy when the user wants it to.Thanks for the great add-on by the way!Malaach

Thank you for replying so quickly. No errors show up in the console, and no function calls show up when running a profile during the actions.I understand if you can't help, but I do appreciate you trying. I'll look into the issue and see if I can figure out what's going on and report back here if I find anything.

Hey, I believe the firefox version had this but the Chrome one does not I really think that the ruler is helpful for me when setting up layers and I would like to see in the little bottom bar that appears when using the ruler the x and y coordinates of the top left corner and bottom right corner of the box. That will help everyone using the bar to be able know where they have to set the locations of their layers at instead of guessing and checking. Thanks for porting it to Chrome it's a huge help, especially since I've been getting away from Firefox lately since it's a huge resource hog.

Strange - I'm not sure why these aren't working for you as they work fine for me on my test setups. Unfortunately I don't have a Linux machine to test on so I don't really have anyway to reproduce the issue under your specific configuration. You could try opening 'View' -> 'Developer' -> 'JavaScript Console' to see if there are any errors appearing in there related to the extension.I'll keep trying to reproduce this, but until then I'm sorry there is not much I can suggest.
